
Ron Snider joined the Dallas Symphony in 1970. A native Texan, Snider graduated from North Texas State University, and then studied North Indian Drumming with Mahpurush Misra at Mills College, studied composition with Henk Badings at Point Park College and studied cimbalom with Toni Koves and Alex Udvary. As a cimbalom soloist, he has performed with the Dallas and Milwaukee Symphonies on their recordings of Kodaly’s Hary Janos and has also appeared with the Houston, Austin, Baton Rouge, Philadelphia and Oklahoma Symphonies and the Orchestra of Florida. In his spare time, Snider has built and collected more than 500 rare percussion instruments.
